Reparations for Slavery

Suppose your ancestor was a slaveholder, or a corrupt politician. Ought you to do anything in compensation? What should you do with wealth inherited from that person?

    That’s certainly a thought-provoking question.

Let me pose what I think is the more difficult question about reparations for slavery:

Suppose all Americans today benefit from our history of slavery? Ought we to do anything in compensation for black Americans, who still labor under significant disadvantages inherited from slavery?

    Thanks,

    James
